BLOG KLIN D'OEIL- Episode #4 - our tips: online store on squaresapce
Today, we meet Virginie Capman, co-creator of Klin d'oeil, who reveals how the Squarespace platform enables her to manage the programming of DIY workshops and the mini-e-shop with ease!
Let's get started with his little Squarespace online store tips & tricks:
What types of products can Squarespace help you promote?
There are several types of products that we feature: our mini-selection of objects from the boutique, our gift vouchers and our program of WORKSHOPS.
We update programming every quarter! Right now, my favorite workshop is ex-libris engraving with Laura Giraud.
What makes Squarespace more practical than another CMS for this type of product sheet?
The advantage of using Squarespace is that you can customize the product sheet in detail: several amounts, several formulas or models available, to be selected from a drop-down menu. For the gift voucher section, it's also possible to add a personalized note, which I then redeem on the dedicated gift voucher.
Another advantage is that you can edit the number of participants in a workshop at any time, in case of cancellation for example, or if a product is back in stock on the e-shop.
How are orders and inventory managed?
For workshops, as soon as a reservation is made, I receive an e-mail informing me. The customer also receives an automatic confirmation e-mail. Places are counted automatically, which is really handy! When the workshop is sold out, the form indicates "sold out". It's great that the entire program remains visible!
As for order tracking, a summary of all orders is available on the platform. This allows me to obtain the contact details of participants so I can send them information (reminders of dates, times and locations). A notification system lets you know whether an order has been processed or not. This is ideal when there are several of us managing the site at the same time.
You can also search for a participant by name or by the workshop purchased, if required. I use it very frequently!
What other features do you like?
A very practical little extra is the option to hide a file. This allows you to take the time to build it up properly before putting it online, but also to keep archives. On the e-shop side, this allows us to reactivate product sheets at different times of the year for our current selections or when restocking!
Also, at Klin d'oeil, we create our Newsletters via the platform, and all we have to do is integrate a module so that the product sheets can be clicked directly into our mailing! It's a real time-saver ;-)
And there you have it! Squarespace is an ultra-complete CMS, and I have no doubt that there are still plenty of features to be explored! That's the great thing about Squarespace: it's adaptable to all sectors!
Thank you Virginie for all your advice!
